Hi all,

I saw someone at a starparty collimating their secondary mirror with a screwdriver on a cord around their neck.
Does anyone know where these might be available?
It didn't look home made and it seems to me a lot safer than using a loose one.
I should have asked them at the time but for some reason I didn't think to.:screwy:

Ta,
Molly.

Just drill a hole in the screwdrivers handle and tie a loop of string through it.

Thanks David,

I tried drilling perspex a few years ago but it just melted on the drill.

I thought the plastic of the handle might just melt if I tried that, but I'll give it a go anyway.

Thanks.

Don't run the drill so fast. Back it out of the hole a few times to clear the swarf and let the bit cool down.

Hi Molly,

For a minute there, I thought this thread was about me...?

I just bought some Bob's knobs for my secondary and now I dont need an allen key or screwdriver at all. Cost me about $25 delivered from the Bob's Knobs website, arrived in 8 days and works like a treat. No more fiddling.

Cheers

Chris

Same here, Bob's knobs. But before that, I fitted a wrist loop to my screwdriver connected to a screw into the plastic handle. Snug fit over wrist - will never fall.

Try a hand drill.
