Does any body have a surplus Meade ETX 125 electronic focuser to thier needs.I am prepared to pay a fair price.

My nephew's eye sight compared to my owns is worlds apart and he gets a bit aggresive in adjusting back to focus so before he damages the scope i would n't mind trying one out,as at times his concentration and patience is a little limited

Thanks

I believe there wasn't an electronic focusser built for the ETX125. Something to do with not enough clearance to allow the OTA to move freely around the zenith ?? No problem with the smaller ETX's.

There was one, as per attached pic from the ETX-125EC manual, but Meade axed it several years back when they were reducing their range of add-ons. Unfortunately, they are very flimsy internally and their durability is questionable, IMHO. Kids toys are better built than these relatively expensive extras!

I've read somewhere (Cloudy Nights ETX forum, perhaps?), that the #1244 electric focuser for the ETX-90 and ETX-105 may be able to be butchered to fit an ETX-125. Good luck if you try that alternative!

I've just discovered that third-party vendor JMI have a model in their Motofocus range for the ETX-125: MOTOFOCUS for Meade ETX (http://www.jimsmobile.com/buy_motofocus.htm#Meade)

The description of the item specifically notes, "The MOTOFOCUS hardware does not interfere with vertical operation at Zenith."
