I have data for every filter.
I made a composite of them all. They all have their bit great or small to add.
Scopes here are Tak BRC250 (LRGB) and TEC180 (narrowband)

Great image but out of interest what is the reasoning to adding the narrowband data if it is already contributing to the LRGB data (well L, R and G really)?

I know your processing skills are better than that :shrug:. You don't have much data really so that wouldn't help for the outer regions I guess but the core looks pretty grainy and fuzzy.
Why do the stars have double spikes by the way?

LRGB was from an earlier BRC image. The double diffraction spikes (which I don't mind - patent pending hehe) never appeared again in other images. Some said it was out of collimation but I checked that later on with a Tak collimation scope and it was spot on. Only thing I can think of was the brightness of the stars may have caused some sort of reflection off the corrector?
I fixed the grain, yes that was the original BRC image and it was
oversharpened. I'd like to add more data whilst M42 is still around if I get a chance. I thought I had more LRGB data from the TEC180.
Its all good.

Outer neb looks very good but I think you're inner core is cooked and noisy. Your NB previous core had to be the best I've seen. Very intricate details even if the colors weren't your standard M42 I still think it's the best trap area I've seen. :thumbsup:

Yeah, perhaps I can substitute that core for the one I already had.

OK, so here's the image from the other post I assume. I quite like it Greg. Colour confidence is there, but pushed too hard. Always great value to combine data from previous data sets that you've taken. It's certainly growing on me. Mike and others have highlighted a few weaknesses which I feel can be address with careful processing. Keep them coming.

mm okay apart from what other people said...i think collimation out or focus not right....just my 2 cents worth>

Thanks Jase. I'll revist this one anf tweak it some more. I probably will take some more LRGB next trip whilst Orion is still around.
Hi, I thought that may be the case when someone said double diffraction spikes meant collimation was out but I checked it with a Tak collimation scope and it was spot on. Also a visual check up the tube showed perfect orientation. Also some of the stars in the luminance etc are super pinpoint so focus is perfect on LRGB. I did redo a whole set of LRGB because focus was off one night which was an annoyingly unusual error.
The narrowband component is from a TEC180 refractor so no collimation issues there. Focus was also very spot on and imaged under good sub 2 arc sec seeing (under 1 arc sec one night) but what you mainly see in this image is the LRGB and the narrowband is accentuating the colour making it a lot richer than the LRGB was by itself.

I tweaked the core more using some of the better narrowband core data and reduced noise a tad.
I am quite happy with this one now but will be shooting some more TEC180 LRGB for it next trip if the weather gods permit.
