The seeing last night was even better than the previous night for a while around 10pm. Here's an image of Mars showing roughly the same face as the previous night but a little better resolved. Also the cloud that was on the limb in yesterdays image is now easier to see.

Once again this is IR(742nm) / G / B with 120 seconds of IR and 60 seconds of G and B.

This time I avoided over-exposing the polar cap :-0

cheers, Bird

Holy moley.

Another awesome one Anthony. Looks like the cap is starting to shrink?

Astounding what you can do. Seriously

Cheers

Lovely image Bird,

I reckon for what we have to work with ie: the constraints regarding altitude and the ever shrinking apparent diameter, this is about as good as it gets.

Thanks guys, the high contrast on Mars and ability to use IR filters helps a lot. Sadly Jupiter won't be such an easy target when it's down there in a few years time :-(

Hey Bird,

Once again a lovely image. I drove through your home town on Wednesday and stopped just near Yass, I couldn't believe how clear the skies were!

It must truly be a pleasure to sit outside and just stare at the sky!

One just really can't get perspective of how polluted our suburban skies are, both by light and atmospheric pollution unless you have something to compare it too. Thanks for sharing your images!

Thanks Darren, you picked the right time to come through, March is one of the best times of the year around here with crystal clear skies.

Mind you, it's been overcast and raining the last 2 days :-(

cheers, Bird

Nice Anthony, equal to the better ones from the northern hemisphere I have seen this apparition. Must get myself down to Clayton one night with the scope. I cannot image from Blackwood due to my neighbours new carport.
