Here is my first ever narrowband image. I used Astronomik Ha, OIII, SII - hubble pallete.

Needs more signal as I ran out of time and was blocked by a house! Will take more signal and add to it.

Details:

Ha (green & Lum) 2 x 4 min
OIII (Blue) 2 x 4 min
SII (Red) 2 x 4 min

ED80 with DSI III Pro and guided Temp 20 Deg (External cooling applied)

Thanks for viewing

Comments welcomed.

Hey nice job.

With narrowband you have to boost the red as green can be dominant (Ha is almost always the strongest signal) and O111 (blue) is next strongest usually (not always).

So you need to use curves to bolster up the red harder otherwise your narrowband images will be blue/green in colour only.

You can do this using layers or you can assign the red to a channel in photoshop and then boost that channel - whatever you like.

Greg.

It`s not a very deep image but I find it very appealing! Nicely processed and I like how you have blended the colors!
Extra nice Dr Paul!

Thanks all for the comments. I think one could get hooked on NB! I will definately add some more signal to this when the clouds move off. Will also try stretching the SII (red) a bit more once I get more data to balance it out a bit more.. :)

Managed to get a further 70 minutes of data of Ha 30, OIII 20, SII 20. This makes a total of 94min of data.

I think it definately smooths the image out now, although I had to crop the image due to framing differences.

Thanks again for comments.

Thanks Frank.

Thanks Rob. Happy with it now. Adding more data is definately worth it as it defines things much better. This is a faint object so I think what I have is about as good as it will get. Time to move onto the next target!

Excellent Paul, some nice detail there for such short exposures on a DSI. 4 min subs are really short for NB !.

Thanks Fred! Its the 12nm filters that I think allowed that much detail through on short exposure times.

Thanks Marc. I must admit that the colours do look way better than I expected. I want to check the sprectral response of each filter to compare with other NB filters now

Thanks :thanx:
