Now that I've got your attention :) some dill is advertising $0 on all their gear:

I wonder if they're aware of the Fair Trading laws concerning misleading advertising... I'd love to take it on and see if I can wangle the Quantum 8" Mak, a nice mount and a bunch of eyepieces for free :D

*Price on application only*
looks like we'll be saving our pennies to grab that $35,000 mak. bah, I'll go for that 32" SDM instead for that price
Still, would be cool to own such a rare and exotic scope... only *1* in the southern hemisphere!!!

Now now... let's focus on the scope on the left of her, do not sniff at a Questar 3.5", even a humble field model; they are amazing scopes for their aperture. And I'll warrant few here have had the pleasure of using one.
And it's going for free for the asking, amazing.

Yes Wavytone - you got my attention. However I have heard "there is no such thing as a free lunch" but I have not heard the same about "free telescopes" I wonder........Cheers Peter

Yes Chris posts here. Chris has been a real gentleman in the 8 years I have known him. He also makes a wicked telescope.

I asked for a price for the Questar. Haven't heard back yet....

Quantum where always overpriced IMO
a 6" in 1978 only cost $1500
even if only 8 where made I can't see how it would justify $35000
(PS: they are not free "price on application" generally means if you have to ask you can't afford them)

The 3.5in at the top was made in 1960, with depreciation, that would be worth about......... $39.56 now?.

Average price of gold was around $158au/oz then so the scope was worth 9.5oz of gold. Today that makes it worth roughly $11940.

Can't compare the two one has an inherent value the other does not the value of gold to everyone would be the same the value of the scope would not be
