Testing out the Gstar-ex with moon pics as follows.

1/
Montage with 5 pics overlayed to get the full moon in. C9.25, 0.5 Focal reducer + Gstar-ex = F5.0

2/
Detail shot of Mare Crisium C9.25 + Gstar-ex = F10

3/
Detail on the North East Limb above Mare Crisium C9.25, VIXEN C-mount Tele-extender 2.4, = F24.
Now here is the mystery! I have identified the craters in this image except for one on the very edge of the limb. The full moon Atlas does not show it and I'm at a loss. Does anyone know what it is?

All comments greatfully recieved

all the best

I think it's Gauss

Yes it is Gauss.

If you don't already have it and you are into the moon then you need Virtual Moon Atlas (http://ap-i.net/avl/en/start) Brilliant

Thanks Clayton. So quick off the mark finding that one

I had some windows 7 problems when i tried to run this prog. I must go back and give it another go in compatability mode.

Thanks Matt. I had no idea that I was taking a photo of a crater that is only visible for such a short time. That makes it a little bit more special for me.

I am very happy with the Gstar and the way in which it is taking the pics. I now have to work on getting better focus in my shots. I've added a feathertouch, I have a Battnov mask and i still am getting slightly soft shots when i increase the magnification. I am wondering if I have to travel the robofocus route?

Thanks for the comments... Paul

Thanks Mike, I think the Gstar is a great little camera to start out with. Paul
