Hi All,

Almost forgotten my iceinspace password to login, given its be well over a few months. Am I still imaging? Hell yeah!:D

No rambling this time, lets cut to the chase with a few samplers. More to come once I get time to process them.

Thackeray's Globules (http://cosmicphotos.com/gallery/image.php?fld_image_id=200&fld_album_id=11)

Toby Jug Nebula (http://cosmicphotos.com/gallery/image.php?fld_image_id=204&fld_album_id=11)

Enjoy! :)

Jase,

As per the norm, brilliant images, matey.

Those globules are immaculate!

Been checking out your site as of late but hadn't seen any updates -- I'm most glad to see these and to know you're still alive and kickin' and doin' what you do best. :)

Lovely images Jase.... nice to see you back with vengeance!
Like your rich colours on all and the depth, image scale and fov is perfect with the scope/ combo from Lightbuckets.

I imaged Thackerays Boks a couple of weeks or so ago and my seeing was rubbish. I missed a few of the globules due to smearing from GSC8976:5393, the transparency was horrible.
So nice to see a sharp rendition as this.

Especially liked IC 2220, just lovely to look at.

Thanks for sharing your efforts
Rich

Ah Jase back like a Cyclone

I did a double take at your very brief post :eyepop: from one extreme to another

Three lovely images, really liked the TJ nebula  rarely imaged but a delight.

Thanks Humayun. :) Yes, the Globules turned out ok, but I struggled to match the Ha data to RGB on this one. The IC2944 data was acquired back in Feb 2009, but I forgot about it until recently. Thanks for your comments.

Cheers Peter :)

Cheers Rich. :) Great to see you round the traps again too. Not often our virtual online paths cross. Yes, the Lightbuckets scopes do deliver the goods. Zenith crossing are the key to quality data if you have a chance at all when operating at these focal lengths as others will testify. Alas, sometimes it just doesn't come together. A gamble. The FSQ/U16M isn't collecting dust however, will be sure to show something from this combo soon. Hope to check out your Thackeray's image soon. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks Mike. :)Yes a cyclone. As fast as I enter, as fast as I leave. Will try hang around for a while pending work travel commitments. Yes, the TJ is a fave, been on my list for sometime but requires reasonable FL and aperture to bring it out in all its glory. Cheers!

Welcome back Jase,
All three images are beauts! The globules stand out real nicely and Toby`s jug is a lovely image. M78 is also so smooth and nicely processed. Hard to pick my favorite one here!
cheers Gary

Thanks Tom! Much appreciated.

Pleased you liked them Dr Paul! Thanks for checking them out and making comment. :)

Thanks Mike! Will try hang around for a while. Sad, but don't get much time to contribute. Back OS in a couple of weeks...but still using my own remote observatory and that of others whilst abroad so I'm still able to image anywhere!:D

Thanks Marcus. Pleased you liked them. Will be on the lookout for some TOA150 madness from you. ;):)

Cheers Fred. Its a case of dare to be different. Same objects get a bit dull after a while unless you can present them in a new light. Good to see you still hit those 'off-limit' targets too. Yes, Thackeray's presented some challenges. Whilst I wanted to emphasise star colours, not always easy to achieve with Ha blends, the halo's got the better of me. Strangely, it grows on you after a while...kinda like a starless lagoon. ;)

Thanks Gary! :) Indeed, I paid special attention to the globules as I ultimately wanted this as the key focus surrounded by an even distribution of nebulosity on both sides. Symmetry if you will. Composition can make or break. Interesting you mention M78 as to me, this is the one I don't like out of the three. Lacks punch in my opinion. Only basic RGB data was acquired on this one and it wasn't the best I'd worked with that's for sure. Only so far that you can push a synthetic luminance. Thanks again.

Cheers David. Pleased you enjoyed them. :)

Thanks Marco. Still refining the long focal length processing routine, but it appears to be working ok. These should be on your target list given your remote obs in AU.:)

Cheers Adam. Something different, will always amaze. :)

Thanks all for appreciating my efforts. :D

Told you the stars would grow on ya!;) Not a glam image, but an interesting one. This published version is the third rendition. The others have slightly tighter stars, but I went with the halo version. Nothing wrong with sticking your head out now and then. :D

Cheers Trevor! TJ seems to be the crowd pleaser. :)

Thanks Duncan! Pleased you were enthralled by them ;)

Thanks Greg. Appreciated. :) The 16" has the ion-milled optics, not that I can tell. Always fun to have top end gear of numerous focal lengths at your disposal.

Cheers Ric. Yes, still about (alive!);) Trying to deliver quality work - always a subjective topic.

Thanks Martin. Pleased you liked them. :) Indeed, a few challenges on the processing front.

All 3 are very special, but the jug has gentle sublime colours and shading - especially the rich and contrasting star colours.

Many thanks for showing 3 beaut objects and making it look far too easy Jase!
