It's a great film and well worth the time. The acting is good and quite intimate at times. It also has a good ending.

It's available on iTunes for download if you have it. AU$25, but I think that's typical of a DVD price these days isn't it? I haven't bought one in an awfully long time (Foxtel). I've just purchased it anyway - one for the collection.

After April 10th, you'll be able to rent it from iTunes instead.

Just finished watching it actually!
They set out to make more of a traditional "thinking man's" sci fi, and I think they pulled it off very nicely. Original and entertaining.

The low take is due to the fact that the film is independant - ie There were no big studio / distributor tie ins, how many screens ran it where you are? It was quite hard to find in Sydney....

Made in just 2 months at Shepperton studios in the UK this film is a fantastic piece of work, a great story, original ideas, real tension and fantastic acting.

But if you are expecting hollywood style end of the world cgi based sci-fi you are not going to be happy...

Wow - downloaded it on iTunes and watched it this afternoon. What a fantastically original piece of work, and superbly executed on a smallish budget. I reckon that "Moon" is my THX-1138 of the new decade.

A cult classic in the making, and with a great sound track to boot.

Sorry watched it last night and although good was in someways predictable contained a hodge podge of sci-fi

reminded me of "Silent running", "Solaris", "robinson Crusoe on Mars" to name a few

LOL! So are you telling us you saw the "clone" scenario happening before it was told? You'd be a mind reader Trevor... ;) I can't think where this has been used in the same story context before....

Must be ;) someone once said I was psychic or was it psychotic I always get the two mixed up

Really it was OK but not one I'd put on my classic list

Hmmm...there is a thought - which SF films are on your list then?

No particular order here (Moon did not quite make it into my top 10 - it is a tough decision though...)

Blade Runner
T2
Alien
Avatar
Predator
2001
Total Recall
Star Treck - First Contact
The Matrix
The Fifth Element

But Moon beats Star Wars, Back to the Future, and a whole bunch of others in my book...

TrevorW

Silent Running
Forbidden planet
Blade Runner
Aliens (the first one)
Close Encounters
2001
Star Wars the first one
Enemy Mine
Matrix
Avatar

I actually need a top 100

Yeah i've seen it, quite enjoyed it.

What i liked was the "twist" was predictible, but they didn't get hung up on it like it was the only thing to the movie.

ahh some classics there.. brings back memories those names.
I would put Moon somewhere between Space Odyssey: 2001 and 2010: The Year we made contact. It certainly had a feel close to those films which I think the director did quite well.

Suprised 'Contact' with Jodie Foster was missing in those classics. One of my faves.

Golden oldy, anyone remember 'Outland' ?

"Outland", starring Sean Connery, one in my collection of DVD's

I really enjoyed it but I guessed the clone situation just from the trailers that were on telly. Bloody trailers! Nevertheless I really liked the movie.

This movie was done during the Hollywood writers' strike. Had that not been on we might never have gotten to see it. Great acting considering it really is just a 'one man show'.

Still near the top of my list. I may look for different things to you guys in movies I see. I look for productions with an uncluttered style, made with finesse and without the need for huge casts and budgets - which is why I put this movie into the same class as THX-1138. Made cheaply in 3 months and with (realistically) one actor. A pretty damn brilliant result in my books. I don't think you can or should compare it to Star Wars, Aliens and all the other blockbusters you've mentioned. This is a movie you'd see at the Cannes festival, not the Oscars.

Hi Chris

The first one at the top of my list had only 1 actor while Enemy Mine only had 2

Agreed that they don't need to be big budget Oscar winning movie's to be any good

Sorry Trevor - that wasn't directed at your list, perse - but the complete list mentioned throughout the thread.

Silent Running is near the top of my list too. What a masterpiece.

The thing about Silent running is one man's detemination although futile to ensure the survival of something that warrant's preserving despite all the cards being stacked against him

The robot in "Moon" reminded me somewhat of Huey, Duey and Lewie the only difference was that it spoke
