Inspired by Bert's (avondonk) video finder setup I grabbed a bargain off eBay to use with my video setup. It's a Vicon 16-160mm zoom that was used for surveillance. I've rigged up a couple of momentary action switches to use as zoom and focus control. Hope to eventually rig this up as a finder. Tested it out this afternoon and isn't too bad. Next challenge will be to rig it up on the scope :)

Wow, I'm in the middle of doing the same thing with a very similar lens. Mine is a Fujinon 16-160mm f1.8 lens, which looks basically the same as yours, but maybe a bit heavier. The optics in these are superb, though I haven't tried it on the stars yet. I'm using a SAC-Mintron camera on it. I'm actually considering imaging through this lens at some stage with a little cooled CCD camera.
I hope it works well for you as a finder, the f1.8 aperture should help.
Cheers,
Jason.
