Well well.. A consistent 8.22 posts per day average has landed me here...
This morning I broke the 6000 post mark, just shy of 2 years after joining IIS... I would like to thank my service provider, without which none of this would have been possible.. Nokia for the N97, allowing stealthy posting from work, all the great folks on IIS who encourage me to want to be the chatterbox that I am and most of all I want to thank two companies that fuel 80% of my posting... Nestles ~ Nescafe Blend 43. Without which I would be asleep right now. and Carlton United Breweries ~ Vic Bitter!
Big thumbs up to IIS and everyone who makes it the awesome place it is...
Cheers.

Thanks guys... There may well be better beers out there - I do on occasion partake in a corona, stellas etc.. However being Victorian born and raised, there is no beer like VB for me... Like mothers milk!

Does the VB help with the RSI Alex!?
Well done - that 6000 isn't just a number - it shows the amount of help, ideas, fun, support etc that you've contributed to the forum and its community.
Nice one
Doug
Well done Alex.
But going to Brisbane from VIC and then still drinking VB? :P

Theres no way im going to drink XXXX... The stuff is vulgar... These crazy QLD'ers can think what they want, but real beer comes from the south.. Be it Mexico or Victoria. :)

Hey Alex,
The 6000 is cool but what about the gear over the same period?

3 mounts (4 if you include a Dob base...)
11 scopes
9 cameras (including guders and planetary imaging cams)
Gazillions of cables and adapters
enough software to fill up a sizable hard drive
50:50 cloudy:clear ratio..
Throw in a ton of great friends for good measure..

Hi Alex,
It's great to see somebody with as much as passion for the hobby as you do.
When and how did you first get interested?

Thanks Terry.. It was an snap thing that happened in march 2008.. I have been an avid photographer for about 7 or 8 years.. My passion was fixated on wildlife photography working at long focal lengths... One day I got onto google and searched for "Long Focal Length" photography. I found one of Fred Vanderhaven's images of M20.. 3 days later I bought an 8" Dob and so the story began! :)
Since then Astrophotography has taken over as my primary photographic passion. The more I learn, the more I want to learn... It even motivated me to further my education... Bit of a life changing discovery I must say..
Congratulation Alex. Good hear to hear you're having more fun than ever with such a great hobby!

Yeah I suppose you'll have to work until your 83 to pay for all the gear

:) Trevor - I will endeavor to be retired by 50. Thats the plan... Gives me 30 years to play with my toys uninterrupted.. However, being that that's only 25 years away, I think its a little optimistic... We'll see...
PS - The dream of being retired by 50 INCLUDES owning a PME/17" CDK + + ST10-CFW-AO/AP140EDF + STX16803-CFW all in an observatory somewhere dark, and quiet....
mmmm Plans!! :D

Alex,
Don't plan to retire with what is available now. In 25 years time who knows what may be out there. Dream of what is possible.
