Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can point me in a direction to find images that were taken 20 or 30 years ago by very expensive telescopes and compare them to the new ammature CCD images from relatively inexpensive equipment. We are doind a presentation at a conference and I would like to be able to show a comparison.
Thanks
Mark

That's a top-notch idea actually. I would think you'd have to contact various observatories and / or universities and be pretty specific about the area of sky, but thats a damn fine project!
G'luck.
Peter
P.S, Sorry I can't point you in any one direction, I don't think any of the big photo libraries would have what you need but maybe Getty Images or some such?
Hi Mark,
For the images "taken 20 or 30 years ago by very expensive telescopes" part of the
equation, I suggest you contact David Malin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Malin), now retired from the AAO, convey to him
what you would like to do and ask if there is any way he could possibly assist
or any suggestions he might be able to kindly provide.
You can find David's contact details at the bottom of this web page -
