I have had terrible conditions to try my QHY9 out in, with very strong winds being the main problem. I managed to get a few subs in on Orion(LRGB) and Omega Centauri(Lum only). I think the camera has got a lot of potential, and the dial up temp ability is very cool!
Orion, 10x60sec RGB, 10x300, 60 & 1 sec Lum. DSS, no flats or bias, registration in MaxIm V5, stacked and touched up in PS CS3. Needs way more colour and subs.

Omega Centauri, 10x300 an120 sec, Lum only, DSS with flat & bias frames, touch up in PS CS3.

Gray,

Very nice images indeed.

Omega Centauri is very crisp right to the core.

What rig were you using?

 Seems there is a massive migration from QHY8 to QHY9 lately. Another great shot!

Thanks Marc, it is a bit like that, isn't it?!:eyepop:

Thanks Frank!:)
I am using a WO Megrez 110 on an EQ6 Pro & EQMOd on a semi permanent pier setup. Guiding is piggy backed Orion 80ST and Meade DSI 1 Colour.

How do you have "more first light", shouldnt it be second light, or just more light?

Also, what's with the strange star colouring in the top corners, you have an aqua blue star with a pink centre in the top right?

Apart from than, it looks great.

Yeah, dunno about those stars?! Oh well, it's not a real serious attempt, everyone was posting their "first light" so I just did a bit of band wagon jumping!!;)
When the weather stabilizes a bit more and my adapters get here for the flattener, I'll have a serious go! Thanks Terry.:D

Nice M42 Gray
When putting your RGB and Lum together you have to be carefull with the alignment and starsizes, i have the same with brighter stars and you get a ring around the star in the luminance, so it will be better to make the stars in the color image smaller, and then combine with the luminance.
If i am wrong, please step in, more experienced processing goeroes :)

Omega centaury looks excellent

Great stuff Gray :) A very nice GON.

These QHY9's seem to be catching on. Straight out of the box they're producing good images - so once we get to know their characteristics a little better I think that we're going to be producing some crackers.

Cheers, guys! They will turn out some goo images with a bit of practice.
Hi Martin, I realize that the stars are not the best in the Orion image and that they need reduction, it was just such bad weather and the image was only ever going to be mediocre at the very best, so I didn't try too hard to process it.:)
