I made an online order from a company in Shanghie(spelling) part of the order included the parcel being sent by Air mail, this is what I received an hour ago,
We shipped your parcel by airmail and though, sadly, we can't control the postal services, based on our experience the parcel should be with you between Friday 05 March 2010 and Friday 12 March 2010 .
Has anyone any experience of receiving stuff from china?
Could I be surprised with an earlier delivery date:question:

I've bought a fair bit of stuff from China and about 1 week is average.
I think the Chinese New Year celebratons/holidays are over, this is the only time when there's been some delay. This is usually in actually sending the package rather than postal delays.
Didi they provide a tracking number?

Ron, I've ordered stuff from China before and so far haven't had any bad experiences. Prob with the Chinese New Year holidays things may be delayed a bit

Thanks, they provided a order ID, I don't know if that is classed as a Tracking ID?
Just have to wait with fingers crossed that it doesn't take a month of Sundays for it to get here.:prey::prey::prey:

FWIW I had a problem with a parcel from Link Delight, after almost 3 weeks I queried, the reply came back that it was held in chinese customs for some reason, oncwe released I had it within a couple of days. On the other hand a parcel sent from HKBNS ebay seller arrived on a Friday after placeing the order and paying on a Tuesday, just 2 and a half days from order to receipt. Now that's service.

Could be a cover story for an "out of stock" event.

My experience it that it's highly variable. Sometimes it's very quick, sometimes a couple of weeks. The longer ones do seem to be customs-related.

G'day Ron. Yes. I bought something on EBay recently with a very similar 'warning' and it arrived quickly and intact.

I generally allow 3-4 weeks for items to come from overseas.

I find it is usually a week for delivery of an in-stock item from the US to a Sydney business address, for prices below $1K.
On the other hand, a Melbourne company took 2 months to get an item to the same address. They didn't bother to inform me it was out of stock and after I hounded them a few times it arrived with Hong Kong postmarks.
