Mars 24th & 25th Nov. {refractor}

Not sure what to say about these photo's...:confuse3: I like the details I'm getting but I dislike the colours! I think I've tried every conceivable way to try to get colour like a reflector will give you. Apart from purchasing a IR/UV cut filter I'm out of options? So I'll do what anyone else in my position would do....NOT worry 'bout it & post 'em anyway! :P

The 1st & 2nd pics are identical settings, same amount of frames, same processing procedure in registax....the only thing different is #1 is with the white balance set to auto & then unticked after 20 odd seconds. the 2nd....auto balance. The 3rd is just a muck about/try this/try that, the 4th is a combo of 3 final images from 3 AVIs stacked. The 5th another experiment, #6 taken the night before.

Yeah, most have grain in them. It's deliberate though to try to squeeze out some more details. ;)

I was hoping to get Saturn but no such luck! Clouded in again. :sad:

Help! Too many mars pics..surrounded by mars pictures everywhere I look! Need another computer just to hold pictures of mars! :)

Hi Asi, you've got some tremendous shots there. :) I'm not sure why you're worried by the colour, it looks natural and the details speak for themselves. Let's face it the whole colour thing is very subjective and as long as you don't have colour fringing or mis-alignment between colour channels (which looks like you've licked) degrading detail, what does it matter.

The only colour I've be seeing over the past week or so is grey :sad: so I'll just have to compensate by hanging around in telescope shops spending money instead - if it doesn't clear soon I'll go broke.

I have finally started to get the hang of the colour balance in atra image when you combine the three colours.

If you need to make it more red, then drop the value for red from 1.0 to ray .9, muck around with increments of .1 for less of a colour or decrements of .1 for more of a colour

This is a collage of your #6 in an attempt to get better colour.

Remember Astra image does a histo stretch I believe so it brightens straight away (you may want to test the histo stretch at stacking stage in registax).

Top row from left to right is your original split into R,G,B

Second row is the R,G,B recombined, no deconvolution, but a histostretch would have occurred automatically. So a histo stretch at stacking time in registax may help straight away???

Third row is a ME deconvolution (2x1.3) with colour adjustments

Fourth row is a LR deconvolution(2x1.3) with colour adjustments

The ME is a bit overdone for mine so maybe 2 x 1.1???

I was very happy with the clarity of your blue channel which is most sensitive to bad focus and seeing. It is very clear and also shows good detail. I would have to say it is not the telescope, but a few finishing touches to the colour balance. Astra image seems to work for me, but I believe Bird may use gimp and others may use photoshop???

Great attention to detail with collimation,toucam imaging & registax work!!! This is evident with the detail!!!

Final touchups for the refractor and then onto Big Blue!!!!
