Superb! Time to turn up the heat mate, give us 60x 300s Lums and 30x2min RGB's :) Feed your sensor plenty of photons and it will grow up big and strong!
Thank you Paul , Brendan , Darren and Alex. :)
Will try something else tonight with a lot more exposures.

Hey that's pretty good Marty
Normally I am quite happy to see images of well imaged objects over and over again buuuuut seeing Eta Carina shots over and over again for the next several months is certainly gunna test me...:scared: God give me strength :prey: :prey:

Jeez I thought the exposures were pretty much spot on.

The image did look good.. But more exposure never hurts... 20hrs on some targets in my opinion isn't enough.... You have to draw the line somewhere, but I think with the quality of amateur mounts these days, doing multiple night imaging runs is not out of the question for anyone... I don't class an image as "Finished" until its hit 6hrs, even then I've been pushing to 9hrs recently, and as far as 22hrs on one image..

That's a nice image Martin. Things are going well for you.
:lol::lol::lol:
Thank you Mike :)
Yes i was thinking the same, and will move on to the next target
There is alway's room for improvement Brendan :)
Yep after a certain amount of time you will not be getting any better pictures and that is where the line is.
The dimmer the object is the more exposures will do good
Thank you David, the QHY9 is a good buy, as all 8300 based camera's are.
Just wish i had the money to buy one a lot earlier.

Geez I've lots to learn...I hope I live long enough to learn at least 1/2 of it.
Thanks Alex.

This is not quiiiiite true Alex...it is mostly due to the fact that most of us use small aperture, large focal ratio scopes, we just need more aperture with FAST focal ratios, here is irrefutable proof:

Yes that is true indeed.. but while im imaging at F/6 and slower, I'll stick with saying "more data needed" as collecting more data is cheaper and easier than collecting a big fast optical system...
Marc's results with his C11 Hyperstar are a perfect example I guess.. 11" F/1.8 setup, doing beautiful shots of IC434 and M16 with just 30x30sec subs..

Hey settle pettle, ya can't have everything....well, ya can but tis better to master what you have first and then move on...isn't it
Bah! just get that 12" F5 Petzval APO order off to the custom optics place and be done with it once and for all

Probably.. But new toys are just so tempting... :P
Marcus Davies said it best - He who dies with the most toys wins... Considering I'm 24yo, I'm off to a good start.. :) Got plenty of years left for toy acquisition.. :)

Very nice colours and detail Martin.
I love the crop and the full frame just as much.
I wish I could frame some of these objects as well as you
guys with ED80s.
And Strongmanmike, hey , don't be so hard on the young Alex :)
He wasn't born when us dinosaurs were using terms like reciprocity
failure
Steve
Thank you Steve :)
I have seen your images and see what you mean, you need a ED80 :P
The DSIII with the 12"f5 makes for some fine close up images and that is what i sometimes wish to have, when doing galaxy work.
And you have it the other way around :)
Might have to use my 6" 1250mm achromat for that :)
