View Full Version here: : Horsehead closup in Ha, 15.2.10
I captured this image of the Horsehead Nebula with IC434 glowing behind it using a remote telescope setup at Moorook in Australia, 15.2.10 from my desktop in London. This is a 45min exposure (comprising 4 subs) in Hydrogen alpha, with Bias, Dark and Flat frames subtracted. Processing was in Maxim DL5 and Photoshop:

Quiet a nice detailed closeup
Maybe the stars are overdone but that`s easily fixed.

Are you sure it was from the TEC140? Im seeing diffraction spikes in there that look like it was from an RC, and the field of view is a lot tighter than I'd expect from a TEC140/STL11002M combo.. More akin to a 12.5" RCOS + STL11002M FOV...
Other than that, it looks nice, lots of fine detail.
Thanks for pointing this out Alex. I’ve checked the GRAS website, the page I accessed listing telescopes appeared to be out of date, must say I wondered about the spikes on the brighter stars, should have dug deeper!
I’ve corrected the caption: RCOS 12.5" / SBIG ST-8.
