Hi,
I took this when the temperature was 23 degrees c so thought I would set the camera to do 30 darks unattached from the telescope after taking my ligths , bias frames and flats. I don't know what was going on with downloading the images to the computer but it seemed to be taking about 10 x as long as normal. This is the first time this has occurred. The temp basically stayed the same.
Taken with W/O Flt 110 and Canon 400d unmodified at ISO 800. 24 x 6 min lights with flats and bias frames added to DSS and processed in photoshop cs3. Guided with PHD guiding. Feel free to comment.

Nice focus and guiding. A tad blown in the core and mono chromatic?

Could do with a slight bump up of the saturation but an otherwise awesome image.. Good to see you really bashed the target with a decent amount of exposure, It really is the key to creating a silky smooth image...
Keep at it buddy!

Mark,
The second image has more clarity.

Yeah, the second definitely has better saturation, colour and contrast.

Thanks all. I was really happy with the first image and then saw where improvements could be made thanks to feedback. I too like the second image now but still don't mind the first.

I will go against the majority and say the first is better, Nicely done by the way Mark, Second looks to contrasty to me. Some detail lost in the darker areas. Just some more saturation would make it better..
cheers Gary

Very nice colors in the repro. Well done.
Nice going Mark!
The unmodded DLSR does bring out a lot of OIII in the object, which lends a bit of blue/purple to many areas in Eta. Although we tend to expect beautiful red nebulosity from RGB and modded cam's, your representation is no less "correct", and as the eye is more sensitive to green/blue than red you could even argue its closer to "reality".
Whatever - I like it!
