I've noticed different ways that people put images in posts and am wondering how to do it.
I have no problems uploading images that show at the bottom of the post like here.

Some posts have embedded images but are not links like here that pop up in the post.

How is this done?

When I try to post an embedded pic it only seems to show up as a link rather than an embedded image like here.

I post using Firefox 3.7.5 but tried IE and the result is the same.

Cheers

Yep, that's correct Terry. You can't "hot link" images on the forum. They will always appear as a link.

Ok I think I worked it out!!

You need to
1. Attach the image as per normal
2. Go to the advanced edit box and click the little attach drop down between the smiley face and the undo button.

It puts an ATTACH keyword into your post and lets you position it in your text. Like here 71525

and again here 71525

I think that Terry was trying to say that some posts have "embedded" images within the post, that upon clicking open to a java-driven div layer of some sort - like some gallery software employs.

How do people create these posts with these images?

See example as mentioned by Terry:

Yes, sorry. I possibly need to explain what I mean by "hot link". You can do whatever you like with attachments that you upload to the site and they will appear thumbnailed. You can't do the same thing with images from other sites, as in your last example in your first post.

But you can hot link in a PM :) Just wrap IMG tags around the image address or copy paste it.
