The image on the left has more clarity but the one on the right has more nebulosity. Both have good points.

Did you use any processing software after stacking?

Hi Shane,

I'm very interested in your image being an owner of a D90 who hopes to eventually do some astro imaging, if only wide field shots. Your image leaves me feeling pretty optimistic - thanks for that.

This is just my opinion. I prefer the right image for the left one seems to have the contrast too high. Also the colour balance is quite different from what one normally expects from 'eta car'. The right seems to have more of the red we have all come to expect.

Regards

Glenn

Looks good Shane. A bit of processing practise and you'll be heading in the right direction. Focus looks a little soft still, so maybe a Bahtinov mask might help you there.

Oh - do you mind turning your CAPS off? It's the internet equivalent of shouting! ;)

Shane DSS is purely a stacking program making it look pretty needs something like Paintshop

Nice images Shane but I would like to see an image somewhere between the two. The first is a bit sharp while the second is a bit soft.

Keep at it, the detail etc is very good.
