Eta Carina QHY-8/MPCC/GSO12/Homemade GEM

As above....

thanks to the guys over the last few days, namely Hagar, Marc,
Theo and Peter, I have ironed out some of the main hurdles
with learning the quirks of this great little camera.
Almost a full frame crop with only a 50% resize to fit the 200kb
limit. MPCC spacing seems ok, Off axis tilt seems minimal. seeing was
average and focus was pretty much spot on.

This image I am satisfied with as the starting point on a hopefully
enjoyable journey :)

Lovely job here Steve!!
All looks as though your gear is tuned nicely to the new purchase.
Secondary spikes look nice and thin and stars out to the edge look nice and round as I can gather from this size image.

Thanks also Marc, Alex and Dave,
Dave the exposures were only 10 sec....a test set to see if I had
rectified the off axis tilt in the 2" drawtube.

PS the kids picked the emoticons, so don't blame me! :)

Good on you Steve. That's a long way up the learning curve, and a nice pic of Eta. It looks like you'll have a perfect FOV for galaxies in particular there and smaller nebs. You should be able to really suck the photons down with all that aperture.

+1 for "Newts rule!" here (emoticons already well taken care of as you have noted).....!

Very nice Steve. Progressing very well. The 8 has it's little quirks but all up a nice imaging instrument.

Keep at it.
