Hi Guys, now this is interesting but I have no idea if it works or not.

I was told that if you or your partner is out with the car and he/she loses the keys or somehow locks them in the boot, the car can be open through a live mobile phone link.

Apparently it works like this.

The person who has locked in the keys rings you, at home or anywhere if you have a spare set which most new cars have anyway.

You answer the phone and leave the line open, then press the remote button on the spare set while pressing it to the mobile phone, apparently it will send the signal down the line and unlock the door at the other end.

Like I said I have only heard this and have no idea if it actually works, but it is said that it can be done. ;)

Leon

I had a similar experience, so there may be something in this.

I went to the shops, locked my keys in the car, came back and went "DOH" and couldnt get in.

I rang my wife, told her the story, and she unlocked the car for me.

Of course, she was sitting in it at the time!

HA!, got ya!

Cheers

Chris....

It goes like this up to a point.

"Your partner cries to you through the phone and pleads with you to come all the way across town and unlock the car"

This is the only way it will work.

 Aren't Mobile phones fantastic? They can solve all of our problems :P ;) Even cook popcorn. Remember all those youtube vids about armful microwaves?

If the battery is getting low in the car remote key (or garage door remote), and it does not open the door when you point it at the car/roller door no matter which orientation or position you hold it, this is what I do:

Hold the remote upright under my chin and open my mouth, and it opens the door. In fact I find this method work at a greater distance than just pointing the remote horizontally, directly at the car/roller door. It works every time without fail.

I assume is has something to do with creating a chamber with your mouth??? amplifiying the RF?? Don't ask me to explain it, but I've been doing for for years (yes, I should just change the batteries!)

I tested this on my car. I went to the maximum range where the remote would stop working, then I held it under my chin and lo and behold, it worked again!

Hold it at full reach above your head and try again. You need to rule out height above the ground as the important factor.

I do this all the time much to my wife's embarrassment. I have a habit of walking away from my car not knowing if I locked it or not. By the time I realise I'm too far away to bother walking back.

I turn around, place the remote under my chin, my wife pretends like she doesn't me, I hit the button and the lights flash.

I didn't believe it when I read it ages ago, but it definitely does work.

Cheers,
Af.
