I have an "Orion" illuminated reticle eyepiece and somehow the batteries have gone missing.

If anyone has the some eyepiece can you remind me of how many of which batteries to replace. they look like those little lithium things

G'day Arthur,
Just checked my illuminated reticle and got the following results;
3 Batteries
Type 189
I got mine from Tandy last weekend they cost me about $3 each

Cheers

I had to replace the batteries in my Orion Led Illuminator the other day and I couldn't find the GP189'

So as one does I pulled the thing apart to find out what made it tick.
After a bit of simple circuit analysis I figured that instead of using 3x type GP189's totalling 4.5Volts I could use the 3.0Volts from 2 x LR44's and they fit in the same battery cavity.
I tried it and couldn't tell the difference.

If you'd like to save a couple of dollars.
Instead of paying for
$3.00 for each GP189.
How about $1.75 for each LR44 Alkaline Battery
or
$2.00 for each SR44 Silver Oxide Battery.

$9.00 vs $4.00

As an extra bonus the LR44 are easier to find and cheaper than the GP189's.
I've bought them in Woolies and Bunnings.

We have all intentions to go up there, depends on the weather naturally, we may only bring the observing gear up, its too much mucking around setting up the AP rig for a few hours of shot's
