:thumbsup:I know that this is a shocking pic compared to just about everything out there but I thought that I would post it because of a few peoples disapointments in what they can see visually in some of the other threads.

This was pretty much exactly what I could see visually on the 1st Feb. at about 21:35 WST. Just a hint of polar cap and some other features (bairly but there). So I'm happy.

Details are: Canon IXUS 870 IS digital compact hand held with flash through 10mm plossl eyepiece with 4X optical zoom. Minor cropping.

At least your honest about the quality :)
But if we all had to take images of Mars one frame per pic they would mostly look like this ;) unless the conditions were great and we had a bit of luck on our side.
This is a tough way to take images of the planets (moon excepted)
I suppose I should poke fun at using the flash, but interestingly enough I found that it improved the exposure when I employed it on some early Afocal camera shots:shrug::shrug:
Thanks for posting:thumbsup:

We all have to start somewhere and this is a lot better Mars than I have ever been able to image. Keep working on it.
