G'day all,
I booked our accommodation for NACAA 2010 today, at the Rydges where NACAA is being held. I found the following interesting and worth noting for other's benefit:
Checked accom on Wed, Thurs & Fri last week - best deal was the NACAA "block code" (promoted on the NACAA website) of $180/night.
Checked accom again on Sat night - best deal was now avg $164/night, cheaper than the $180 NACAA deal! I Rang Rydges to ask about it as it seemed odd, perhaps a mistake - they couldn't explain the difference and had little idea about the NACAA block code. The avg of $164 includes nights from $140 - $176 for our stay. Conditions of accom for all prices I've compared are equal (lowest level available at the hotel) and all prices from all days was from the Rydges website.
I know NACAA leaves accom up to the individual and only mentions some options as a general recommendation, so I am not in any way suggesting NACAA have done anything wrong or should change their information. It simply seems the Rydges released cheaper rates on Saturday.
I thought I'd mention it so people are aware you might be better off booking through Rydges website than with the NACAA block code.
Roger.
