Hi,
Well after seeing the other week that this area was very popular I decided for things to cool down a little before I show yet another version of this wonderful but fairly faint area..
Image is a composite of 2-1/2hrs of Ha and 3 hrs of color with the 8" newt and cooled 40D. Still could have done with much more HA as still was a little noisey but it sure helped bring out the Ha better. The camera performed nicely at around 6-7c over the two nights with 5 min subs.
Ha was blended into the red channel as well used as a luminance channel. Also used the Ha as a mask to bring out the highlights although I lost some of the dimmer regions. More concerned at keeping the noise down as we know one has to push this one quiet abit ex us DSLR users.

Gary that's a fine image , well framed and the stars look great...not sure why Trevor would say it is over sharpened ....or have you uploaded a newer version since that comment..?

Is it just me of does all the red look like a big fish?

I don't know if over sharpened or curves have been stretched to much which causes some star bloating I usually get similar star shapes where the diffraction spikes have been stunted by doing this.

Very nice the stars look sharp with plenty of colour vatiation, your scope and mount are working well.
Clear skies Ken.

Thanks guys,

Trevor, only very minor sharpening has been applied. Some of the very brightest stars are bloated but that`s hard to control when the image is really stretched to the max. If I try to minimize this they end up looking strange.

Well thankyou Mr H man!

Thanks Mike! no changes to the file..I`m quiet happy with the result. The stars maybe a little off shape and the color is not so great due to the Ha but I`m happy
cheers Mike!

Not wrong Kieth! it does look like a fish this way!
thanks for looking

Thanks Alex :)

cheers , it`s a challenging object for a DSLR for sure, I will have to do it again next year with much more Ha

Thanks Ken, had some tracking issues but getting there! Always fun when you have a new toy to play with..
Thanks for looking!

Yes - I think we should campaign to get this one renamed the "Giant pink wrasse nibbling on coral" nebula...:D

Beautiful work Gary. I have no experience on this one, but understand its no push over at all to get it looking as smooth as you have here. You must be happy.

Nice image for a target that is quite dim. Green looks like it is down in the image but everything else looks great.
