A total eclipse of the sun in a tropical paradise, and no-one on IIS is going ?!? I'm staggered, frankly.
Am pretty sure that there are a couple going .. cant remember who though :)
Some time ago Petra and David mentioned going to Easter Island (Rapa Nui) but I am not
sure whether they consolidated these plans.
Best Regards

SWMBO seemed to be interested in one of the Easter Island trips, as long as we did the extended tour of Sth America. But at about $30K each I could have a RCOS and PME.

Yep, I'm going to this one - my first total if the weather gods play ball! :D Doing the Aranui III cruise, picking up the eclipse on the last full day at sea, south-east of Tahiti.

Hi Rob,
Good to hear and good luck with the weather on the day. A total solar eclipse is probably
the most dramatic natural spectacle one can witness here on Earth so you are in for a treat.
Many here will look forward to a trip and observation report should you follow up with one.

Any particular reason for asking wavytone? Are you going?

This tour looks pretty good:

I wish I could afford the time (and money) to try and get to see one before 2012.
I'm not likely to be able to travel O/S for an eclipse in the near (20 years) future :)

Looks interesting Mike - at least you'd be land-based for the eclipse.
This is mine. (557KB pdf) More for the trip than anything, the Marquesas should be fantastic. I can only imagine what a total solar eclipse looks like, and as for the experience on a ship out in the middle of the ocean... WOW!!!

And this is the Aranui website:

The cruise is booked out now I think - I booked early last year.
