I know you she your wife was fine with going ahead with the observatory...... but did she use the words.... "well go ahead with the silly observatory, I DARE YOU!!!!"

beware mother nature and the sisterhood!

Looks pretty much like an official recognition of the observatory to me. This is the usual protocol once it has attained the usable status. These formalities were once purely reserved for cricket matches and garden weddings however given the weight of numbers observatoricalness has to be included as an entity in its own right.

Statistically any sirius study of data would highlight that these structures and those of a similar nature or for a similar purpose are drought breakers.

Oh no... it's not operational yet, Dave!:eyepop:That's not a good sign...

Maybe you exceeded the observatory construction speed limit...:P

First light will be awesome. Perfect weather, perfect seeing. He'll image his little heart out and there will be no problems with any of his gear.

But........
It will then be cloudy for the next 3 months at least.

Hope you are stocked up on silicone, for those water leaks.

The weather will pass. All the best.

Hi David

Dont worry, it will pass!

On a side note - I have finally convinced David that having an observatory at home would be a good thing. He has read all your posts!:eyepop: Looks like I may get my wish! Yeah! Will you be posting a compiled list of equipment used and any plans.

Cheers Petra d.

Maybe the gods didn't like the design of the observatory... Perhaps we should have some pics to comment on???

We just got a bit of a light show and a grumble here - I saw on the radar that you guys were copping it up north!

Love lightning shots. We missed last night's thunderstorm - it went through around Wiseman's Ferry. There are two sides to this.

The dog was not panicked out of his mind.

I still have not had a chance to try my lightning trigger.

Just think, before the obs, you would panic and quickly pack all your gear, now you can just "yawn" and shut the roof!:D

As you know David, buying astro gear can cause days or weeks of bad weather but building an observatory could mean months of cloud, storms, or cyclones. Did you really expect it to be nice and clear.
B.T.W, Love the shot. We may get to see some more spectacular lighting pics to come.

Cheers Daniel.

Isn't it wonderful David, that you can photograph a lethal lightning bolt from the relative safety of your observatory?

Good catch mate.

Hi David

Trade off is 10 acres!

Do you think that you can pen a few notes?

Yes, loosing a tree - but gaining a 2.3 (hey that rhymes)!

Cheers Petra d.
