Here it is.. in dead centre of the 100% crop (Canon 400d, 200mm F5.6, 15 sec @ ISO1600)
Photometry tomorrow :)

Nice, Bojan. And thanks for posting. But 15 seconds for that dim little star? Who on earth discovered that?

I am not sure, did not have a time to check all the details.
It seems it is around m14... I will measure it tomorrow. This is the only object that may be Nova, not showing anything in UCAC3 catalogue (down to m16)

Request for observations of KT Eri / Nova Eri 2009
January 20, 2010

Dr. Julian Osborne, University of Leicester, has requested ground-based
observations of the nova KT Eri. Dr. Osborne is requesting these
observations to provide optical photometry in support of ongoing X-ray
observations of this source by the Swift satellite, along with a pending
request for Chandra spectroscopy observations. The X-ray campaign is
being led by Dr. Mike Bode (Liverpool John Moores University). KT Eri
is currently in a soft X-ray-bright phase; early results comparing Swift
X-ray photometry to AAVSO optical photometry suggests correlated
variability is occurring.

Observers are asked to continue monitoring this source for as long as is
practical given the constraints of their equipment and observing
location. Filtered time-series observations with good signal to noise
are preferred; at a minimum, observers should obtain S/N of at least 10,
and preferably much higher. If filtering significantly increases
exposure times or reduces signal-to-noise, please observe unfiltered but
clearly note your comparison star magnitude(s).

KT Eri was m10.22 last night
Quite different from my last night's estimation... which I based on one raw frame.
This measurement was done on 10x stack, G channel only.
Comparison stars were taken from AAVSO plot.
On attached image (from IRIS) North is left.

Dear Bogan
This is the same nova that was found in late November.
I have been following it since then. On 19/1/10 I measured a V mag of 10.711 but it has a short term variability of up to 0.4 mag over a few hours.
It would be a good candidate for a time series using a DSLR as there is a nearby comp star (102 on your chart) that is close in mag.
I am using an exposure of 30 secs with a V filter with my CCD but a similar exposure with a DSLR should give non saturated stars and extract the "G" channel.
There is a need for time series data on this unusual nova.

last night (25th) it was 11.234, significantly dimmer.
