Hi all
After a good solar day I decided to try some Moon images - I have not looked at the Moon for ages so it was good to get back to it. I used my 8" Meade and DMK31 at prime focus

I was very please with image 1 - there is lots of detail and I think a crater chain in the big old crater north of Tycho.

Image 2 is of Clavius and surrounds.

Both were taken around 6.30pm while it was still day light - I mucked around with the processing in Registax5 to make it look more like night!

Thanks for looking.

Very nice moonage indeed.
You have some nice detail there and good shadow definition.

Well done.

Thanks all.
I think with the conditions I often see prime focus is the go with my setup.
I hope to get out soon!

Hi Matt,

Nice hi res images.

I particularly like your first image of the region near Tycho. In my observatory on the ground floor I have many images and charts on display, including a 4 ft x 4 ft Rand McNally Moon Map. Whenever I have school groups come observing I don't let them leave until they have found Hell. Hell is just north of Tycho and is named after Maximilian Hell the original founder of the Vienna Observatory.

In your image you have resolved Hell, Hell A and Hell B very well.

Regards
Trevor
