8x5min @iso400
ICNR on
Canon 20d
Canon Nifty 50
Piggy backed
Mounted on a heq5pro
Stacked in DSS processed in CS3

The second image has been passed through the Dust and Scratches filter in CS3. Why? Because I can. :P
Best viewed sitting back a bit. Flick between the two images. Looks pretty groovy.

Another stunning wide field JJJ... You definitely make the most of your lovely skies....

Could you see the clouds to the south of you? They seemed to be traveling NNE to SSW over me last night.. it was a real nightmare.. I was happy to be out at the scope, and even happier to get some useful data.. but it would have been nice if the skies were free from cloud..

The clouds didn't make it passed the range Alex. At 3.30 I had one small cloud pass by, but I was packing up by then.

JJJ,

I love the images and prefer the first one. It seems to be a little crisper to me.

That's very cool Nettie, it shows the crux area in a whole new (starless) light. The dark dust clouds really stand out. Doing the star removal on such a star filled view was corageous but it has worked ok. If all the stars could be removed without any remaining artifacts it really would look fantastic I recon.

Amazing to think that all that stuff is actually there jjj. You know, you look up at the SC with the naked eye and just see the 5 bright stars without realizing all that is REALLY there. It looks like a damn fine image to me as well ... one for the pool room if I may suggest.

Excellent work JJJ, colours really came out well. Like Jeff said, amazing there's so much more there when all you can see are the main stars.

Eric has just let me know that you have captured The Doodad Nebula in Musca. We have been discussing it in the Observation Forum.
Well done jjj .... now I now what it looks like :)

I like the first image JJJ. Might I suggest putting it in landscape though. If you wanted it to be a tribute to the Australian Flag then the Crux would be upright.:)

Nice image though despite orientation.
