After cooking an omelette for my wife this morning, just because – just because I wanted to scope today - I scoped today!

My mission was to capture the Sunspots in AR 1041 in whitelight through my 8" - well I have nothing - no data worth even trying to process - the conditions were awful!

So the back up plan was to use 'ol faithful - SM40. Even though conditions were still poor the small scope is forgiving and I got some reasonable data.

AR 1041 is still looking good (I shot it yesterday too and there are quite a few subtle changes http://www.pbase.com/mattwastell/solar_2010) and the newer region 1041 is smaller but worth a look.

I hope you enjoy.

Not bad data at all, Matt!

Hi Matt

Good job – both on the breakfast and solar imaging!

I hate to write this…but…I left the rig outside for most of the day and kept popping out to check the seeing…and it did improve…albeit in short 1 to 2 second bursts. You would have needed to eyeball the computer screen continuously to catch these though.

Cheers

Thanks gents - Dennis my scope is still set up from today - I just do not have the patience for tiny bursts of good seeing - but I will do some lunar tonight - a little easier as a target?!
Thanks gents for looking and commenting!

Nice work Matt. I stepped outside today and rattled off a couple of AVI’s which I am currently punching through AviStack. The seeing was “worse” than yesterday but still quite reasonable for fleeting moments. The difference is that I didn’t have the patience to monitor the monitor for those moments, so I just grabbed what I could.

Cheers
