My youngest daughter & I went out to take some night photos while the rest of the family went to the movies. It was a beautiful crystal clear night and it was surprising the constellations we could see despite the light pollution. For some reason tonight seemed really clear. Here's a couple of highlights. The white speck in the second shot is Jupiter. Have just dumped these up without any mucking around. Annie snapped away on my old Canon S3 IS.
These were taken with 450D & Tamron 18-270

Thanks, we were lucky to get there at that time and get a decent park close by as the open air cinema is in swing at the moment and parking can be a scarce.

Moon way big hey!! ;)
Looked suprisingly bigger than usually. Was a fairly clear night in Sydney.
Great shots!!

Adam,

Great shots, Amazing how there is no movement on the water. Must have been a very quiet night.

Thanks for the comments guys, a lot of the fun was having my daughter with me as she experimented with various shots as well :). Hadn't really noticed the water Frank, from a harbour traffic point of view and I only recall seeing a couple of boats or ferries go by.

Lovely shots Adam !
Gorgeous colours, especially in that second shot !!

I just love the city, I go down there often just for a walk around and to take photos.
Actually I just remembered now that you mentioned constellations, that I think I got Orion rising over the Opera House one evening.

BTW if you ever see a guy with a DSLR and a cigar just call out, it will be me mate.
