Had a very quick attempt at these two/three galaxies with the DSI II.
A stack of 13x4 min shots using Nebulosity and PS3 for processing.
NGC1317 is the smaller of the two galaxies in the first shot with NGC 1316, while the next is NGC 1398 which reminds me of a stearing wheel. Stretching the shoy you can see that the galaxy actually has faint extended arms surrounding the "steering wheel" - talk about a weird barred spiral galaxy.

Allan,

I'm not sure if it just my monitor but I'm getting a lot of what looks like JPEG compression artifacts in these imaes - do you see that on your monitor?

Not to bad for a quick attempt Allan. Some longer exposures and you will have some nice galaxy shots to look at.

Thanks Peter and Doug, just wanted to see what the guiding was like and now will go back with the QHY8 and redo some of these preliminary shots. This may be a while down the track as Im just getting plans and materials together to put in a Sirius observatory.
