Hi everyone,

I've had a look at the monthly observing challenges in the resources area and think that we should do it again as it promotes observational astronomy:thumbsup:.

I also think that we should keep the objects in range of small scopes.

And we can all have input in what objects to view for the month like say a poll on the favourite objects for the month.

Who ever thinks this is a good idea please post your replies and i'll try and make an observing challenge for this month.

I have had a look there a few times, to see what to search for, instead of pouring over my books and charts. :)

Thank you to your responses ,

I have made a thread called january observing challenge object selections were you can post the objects that you will like to view and we will see which ones are the most popular.

i think that it will be easier if i came up with some objects and see if you guys agree with them.:shrug:.
What do you think?

Bring it on! Having a range of objects that are within reach of small scopes / light polluted skies would be good.

We need some challenge objects for 10-14" size scopes aswell :)

Well it's worked already! I looked at the list and was pleased to see objects I know I am likely to be able to see with my 6" Reflector. I've just printed the list, keen to meet the observational challenges.

I think a list of challenges for different 'scopes is a good idea also.

But thanks again for including the 'baby' scopes :D It's surprising how much you can see with them, especially in dark skies.
