Hello,

Here is a collage of AR1040 over 3 days, 13-15th January 2010. As you can see, the seeing appeared to peak on the 13th Jan with increasing loss in resolution and clarity over the ensuing days. A graphical illustration that once you have your gear working at its optimum capabilities, “seeing” is indeed “king” in terms of high resolution astro photography.

Also, as Matt noted in my original post (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=55264), (Msg#34), it is quite interesting to see the foreshortening on 15th as AR1040 approaches the solar limb.

PS – I tried an animation but it did not really suit the subject matter. The attached collage seemed a far better way of presenting the data.

Hi Dennis,

I enjoy the Solar images that get posted here but I think this format that you have used to depict the changing morphology over time works exceptionally well.

Very nicely done, Dennis.

Beautiful work. It's a shame the animation didn't work out. Would've been nice to see it morphing and evolving.

The animation didn’t seem to really “work”. Each frame is so detailed with the structure of the sunspot and the faculae that when the animation ran, it looked like 3 different objects blinking rather than one object evolving.

Hey Dennis

A great way to present your fine captures - even though the 13th and 14th are the better ones - it does in no way distract from a fantastic series - hats off to you!
