First decent Mars 17th Jan

Hi,
Well with all the cloud getting in the way for Deepsky imaging, I have been trying to get a decent Mars. Plenty of high cloud around but plenty of holes to shoot through and last night was no different but the seeing was quiet good in patches. Managed one nice 3min avi before the Sirius cloud got too thick.
Taken with my 8" /f4.6 scope 5x powermate and 840k Toucam. Best 300 out of 2300 frames processed in Registax and upsized to 150%. My other Mars attempts over the last few weeks were shocking and I was very glad to get this one. :)

A most respectable effort Gary,

The presents of high altitude cirrus certainly can reduce the clarity of detail, often the only clue is the falling off of the signal on the histogram. I think you have done a good job with this image, especially with an 8" scope. I note that you have resolved the collar within the NPC quite well.

It seems the clouds didn't prevent you from capturing an image with good detail. If you get a moment I'd like to know the altitude of Mars at the time of your photo.
