Hi all,
I'm an Aussie currently living in Oman, and love to check in to IIS every now and then to see what's going on in Oz. Here is a shot of a partial eclipse we had this morning over here. Flat roofs over here make for good observing sites.

Thanks guys. While it is true that cloud is rarely a problem over here, we do have issues with transparency (fine dust in the air) and turbulence due to heat. Not too bad during winter, but summer solar viewing in 50 degree heat makes you feel you are on the sun itself. Maybe this is the 'immersive' feeling at the eyepiece everyone talks about...

Ooooh arrr!!! Dust!!! That has to suck, especially when cleaning. looks like a tops veiwing platform. Do you have 360 degree clear views? That would be awesomeness!!

Most of the dust is fine and suspended way up in the sky, so things dont get too dirty if you are just out for a viewing session. Not quite a 360 view from one spot, but moving a little bit on the roof lets you see anywhere you want to.

I'd be putting that one up on your wall. Very nice. You were lucky that there was an active region happening for you too.
