It's been a while since I posted any images. Thought I ought to put a few out there to show I have not entirely fallen off the deep end.
These from last 2 nights.
The Cone is a bit of a beast to get the colours. I had difficulty finding a decent reference except for a couple of satellite images that were entirely golden. So I have just had an unstructured play with it.
The 5128 shot is pleasing if only because I seem to have come much closer to decent focus on this one.
And the Leo trio - well, more colour would be nice but beyond my processing skills.
All taken with a QHY8 through an ED127 guided (QHY5/Orion 100mm F/6/PHD) - various exposures 2 hours or thereabouts.
Anyway, and as usual. All comments welcome.

A great set of images Peter. Nicely done - I especially like the cone.

Good images Peter! I always love the cone area but like you say it`s a real challenge to frame and get the colors just right.
I hope to get this one before the moon makes a appearance again.
cheers Gary..
Ps...Hows the 20D going?

You gotta be happy with them Peter, some of the detail in there in fantastic, and the focus and tracking are spot on.

well done

G'day Gary. I like it a lot. But I'm waiting on a shutter release cable that is compatible with the 20D and that plugs into my DSUSB. I assume this is how you managed long exposures with it? If it isn't, I'd be glad to hear what you did use.

I bought a cheapo remote of ebay with the right plug which I cut off and bought a 2.5mm stereo socket from jaycar and made a adapter up with it to fit the cable I had for the 300D cable to the DSUSB. If you do a google you can find the pinouts for the 20D connecter.
cheers

Especially like your Cone Nebula & Christmas Tree cluster ... striking contrast and bold stars.
Looks great.
