Hi all, it was good to be able to capture more exposures of this northern nebula, getting 20 x 5 minute exposures at iso 800. This is an uncropped image with the Astrograph and Astro 40D.

Very nice Lester. This certainly fills the field beautifully. Some Ha subs for detail would be a nice addition to this image.
Well done.

Very rich! I slewed the scope to this object, took some test shots, and got absolutely nothing! Whats the mag on this anyway! In your pic it looks bright!

Hi Frank and Paul, thanks for your comments. I don't know its magnitude, but by the brightness of the image on the camera screen, I would rate the California nebula similar in brightness to the Horse Head red region, and it lacks the contrast without any black areas.
All the best.

Must be the low position of it in the sky that prevented my camera of picking it up the. That is, LP. I will try again..Anyway - nice image!

Lester,
Well done, matey.
Looks like a giant prehistoric bird with its beak to the left.

Hi Paul and Humayun, thanks.
Paul this object is only 20 degrees above my northern horizon, half way between the Pleiades and the horizon. I am sure any light pollution would make it hard to capture, you may need a filter to help.
All the best.
