I cant see what the problem is,all we ask is not to put light up where it does no good for visibility on the ground.It is good to see that someone in Rome has worked out energy can be saved without compromising safety.Thanks for posting this, maybe we should point this out to the relevant councils in Australia.Roger Davis as light pollution convenor for the ASV in the past has been hammering this point and still nothing is done.

Yep, I reckon most local councils are the same, always pleading poverty (or regulations) when it comes to doing something that makes sense.

Saving energy, light pollution = treehugging trouble makers.

Not wasting money, sorry we dont understand the concept.
