Got a better polar alignment last night, still finding my way round the new mount and scope but I ot a few decent shots. IS0 1600, 8*30s, F9 through the VC200L, stacked, levelled and noise removed.

Fun it certainly is - I certainly now have a scope that outperforms the observer - I am very happy to see it does not have any coma or CA that I can detect the VC200L design seems to do what it says, I guess the 20D 1.6 crop helps a bit too. Very, very happy. I really have to get into drift alignment now, I do not want to get into guiding auto or otherwise just yet. I am hoping to be able to go for 2-3 mins unguided, not sure how practical that is at f9 though, need to do some maths on the pointing accuracy vs sensor pixel size....and get the focal reducer sorted out. Much to learn....

Well John,If the Sphinx are as good as the GPDX you will get at least 2 minutes unguided
with a good polar alignment . Stack 20 or 30 of those and you should get some very nice shots ! (seeing permitting)
