Hey all,

We recently invested in some macro gear, due to inspiration from this forum. Hopefully it will let us put the DSLR to good use throughout the daytime as well as night.

This shot of a Semaphore Crab was taken on our first outing with the macro gear, at the Royal National Park in Sydney. We're pretty happy with the results, but welcome any tips you may have.

Equipment: Canon EOS 1000D, Canon 100m macro lens.
Details: Aperture F/4, ISO 400, 1/2500 exposure.
Processed in CS3

Cheers,
Trent and Julie

Great capture guys and welcome to the club!! I am sure the lens will bring new life to the camera.
You have the shell in focus, but obviously your dof was too small to get the eyes perfect. If you shift to say f11 - f16 you will increase your dof allowing more to be in focus, lighting does not always allow this though.

Great shot, keep them coming! Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
