The mag 9.7 galaxy ESO 121-006 (PGC 18437) is not in the NGC.
The attached wikisky.org image is 56' by 56'.
The galaxy is 4.2' by 0.8' and the mag 5.1 star in the image is about half way between alpha Pic and beta Dor.
The star is about 7.5 degrees above the Tarantula nebula at midnight tonight DST.

This object is not magnitude 9.7. I can only just see the brightest part of it with a 12" Dob.

Phew, that's a relief Glen! After reading your original post, I looked for it in dark skies through my 4.5", but was surprised I couldn't see the slightest trace of it. Just ran it through Aladin and it is around mag 13.4, way beyond my set-up.

Cheers -
