Hi everyone

I finally got to open my Christmas pressie. The WO FLT-132 (on a EQ6 pro mount). Purchased via ebay and WO. All 100% OK.
Sure is better than my old homemade 8" dob. The Feathertouch focuser is as smooth as silk and the WO UWA eyepieces are a revelation.

Can't wait for clear winter skies. Don't have very clear skies in Sydney at the moment.

I will eventually move to Eqmod, though I find the SynScan controller and GPS mouse very easy to use, especially for my requirements at this time.

Can anyone recommend a planetarium progamme? I had one many years ago when I used an Atari 1040 STE. But that was in 1989 and I expect, hope, things have changed somewhat.

Even though the seeing has not been all that good, I now know what the "refractor" thing is all about.

Clear skies to you all.

Greg

Well done! I have the WO FLT110 on a EQ6 Pro mount. I use The Sky software but if you want something that doesn't cost you you can try Stellarium (http://www.stellarium.org/).

Hi Greg,

I just got a FLT132 this christmas as well, also mounted on an EQ6, sure is a good scope :)

I use Cartes du Ciel (Free) as my planetarium. You can download the hubble guide star catalogue, and a lot of other catalogues separately. You can use EQmod with the program to have full goto capability, I find it works like a dream. Their website is:

yeah stellarium is cool but you can't eqmod it to control eq6 so maybe go starry night pro6 or something similar

Yep. I have heard about astro imaging. And I have also heard about the cost! Give me 6 months or so and I will think about taking that step.

Thanks for the info on planetarium programmes. The info on this site is second to none.

Cheers

Sorry but you are incorrect. I have been using Stellarium to control my EQ6 and scopes since I got into this over 12 months ago. You need a program called Stellarium Scope which provides the connection between EQDMOD and Stellarium. Works a treat and all for free - even better.

Stellarium Scope works with 0.10.2 and only on Windows. The preview of 0.10.3 didn't last time I looked and Stellarium Scope was going to need a major rewrite, or straight out replacement.
