Hi all,

this is 6 x 5 minute exposures with Astro 40D at iso 800, and Astrograph. Would have liked more subs, but the scope was almost hitting the pier. Will be changing my set-up configuration soon, but with temperatures getting to 40 degrees in the observatory during the day, it will have to wait.

Still a nice shot for 30min! Well done. BTW - have you considered ISO400? It may be a bit less noisy that way (but the trade off will be less detail - but from your shot there is loads of detail anyway - loosing some may not be an issue).

Hi Paul, I have not tried iso 400 with this camera yet. I am fairly happy with the results at iso 800 and I know others with this camera that use iso 800 and get good results. With iso 400 I would need to double the exposure time.

I didn't use any noise reduction in this image, and perhaps should have to smooth it slightly.

For only 30mins that's a nice image Lester, I like the colours. Keep it at ISO800, more subs will smooth it out (not that this shot is particularly grainy) :)

Very nice for just 30 minutes Lester. I agree with you about more exposure. It will smooth out the image a lot and make the finer details a lot cleaner.

Hi Michael and Doug. I revamped my set-up this afternoon, so I will be able to take more subs before I need to do a meridian flip.

The 14" SCT has been removed from the mount, and the Titan has only the FS 102 and Astrograph. I may sell the 14" as the oportunities for planetary here have not been great.
