I am after a nice solid set of tube rings for the Orion 80ED....I dont want guide rings and I also already have the skywatcher tube rings but need something with a lot more support.

I have found these but need to ask if anyone else knows of any other's brands I can buy and where to get them from...A link would be great.

:)G'day Tony, i would like some as well, i found these a bit pricey though.

I have noticed that the cheaper tube rings suplied with my ED80, hold the scope o.k. but definately lack in the camera mount stability, in other words, useless for holding my 350D sturdy enough for piggy back shots.

Thanks Trevor.

I checked out the williams you mentioned but their for an 80mm OTA the orion 80ED actualy needs a 100mm diameter set of rings to fit nice and snug....

 should have known it wouldn't be that easy, seems they are hard to find.

I had some Bintels 8" rings they are really for piggy back on a Mead SCT. But
a temporary measure fixed mine to the EQ6 dovetail work finet (A$129)

102mm sounds about right and bargain at A$ 37.18 - if they fit, havent tried yet.

Does he have tube rings or just guide rings as shown in the picture...Guide rings are no use to me.

33South:
They are the skywatcher rings I already have....fine for just holding the OTA but not good enough for when you want to load some serious camera equipment piggback.

Steve (Janokiss) made an awesome pair of tube rings for his ED80.

It a shame you can't find any William Optics tube rings to fit, they are definitely the best I have used.

I ordered the Parralax from the states...they look identical to the williams anyway....and also about the same cost.

Steves do look very good...but I am going to have a heavy dutey aluminium dovetail and top plate..having a wooden rings with aluminium top and bottom plate would not work to well.....prefer to keep it all aluminium.
