I have just picked up my rebuilt Vixen VC200L built by Guy (doomsayer). It is a carbon fibre truss with machined anodised aluminium. The amount of work in the machined aluminium is extraordinary. The secondary spider has also been machined down to stop the square stars the some vc's are renowned for, and the new thinner vanes produce a nice diffraction pattern.

Guy has machined out out as much of the aluminium as possible to keep the weight down but is still massively strong. Also becuase of the inert nature of carbon the scope retains focus over large temperature shifts.

I have been using guys prototype vc over the last couple of months and have had some promising results.

Just as an experiment I sewed up a shroud to see if it helps with contrast, though it seems a waste to cover guys amazing machining!

So a BIG thank you to Guy for a job well done.

Fantastic work Guy - and I bet you're thrilled to have one Brett. :)

One question - why is it mounted on the wall and pointing towards the floor? ;)

Its single fork mounted, facing down for dust.;)

Ok I should have rotated the pics, can you do that with iis or do I have to modify the original pics?

On that note though I mounted the camera upside down and now I cango waaaay past the meridian, infact anything north of about -40 degrees dec, the scope can do a whole revolution, missing the pier entirely.

I hope it serves you well Brett.

That's a lot of kit hanging off the poor R&P.

Thanks also to Brett for suppying a really effective and good looking motorised roof for my observatory! It now operates with wireless remotes and ASCOM.

a pic of 3 VC trusses and the 'completed' observatory attached.
Brett's VC is on the right.

thanks
