Hi All,

I just contacted the Adelaide Optical Centre to determine if they still had the Skywatcher 6" Dobsonian telescopes in stock. The fellow told me that they had in stock 6" Saxon Dobsonians. When I enquired whether they still had the Skywatcher models his response was that both Saxon and Skywatcher are owned by the same company and that there is no difference.

Only 2 weeks ago when I contacted the same store, another person from there told me they the Skywatcher brand in stock. Are they really the same?

Can someone who has more experience and knowledge confirm this?

The Skywatcher and Saxon are both manufactured by Synta.
Not sure if they are exactly the same, though they look similiar in pics.
I have recently been looking at the 12" Dobs in both, and there was quite a weight difference, with Saxon being lighter???
Both appear to be very good scopes.

Hi Liz,

I have a feeling that with the more expensive scopes, there's likely to be greater differences but I guess in the sub-$500 range, any difference is more likely to be negligible.

Thanks for that.
