Hey guys and girls

Finally decided to pull out my "crap" macro lens and take a couple of shots this afternoon. What had prompted me was this wierd, lonely and unusual flower I have never seen before.

So if any of you Macro whiz kids (im looking at you dpastern ;)) out there can help me out on the species, that would be very helpful.

C&C very welcome, but please go easy on me as I'm not well equipped for macro... Yet...

Until I receive my speedlight

Oh, only minor modifications done like curves, colours etc in cs4

Hope you like.

Regards,
Robert

I have no idea about the flowers (I suck with plants and flowers, sorry!). The spider is a St Andrews (female) though.

Shots look nice to me, even without the speedlight. You could always make some DIY snouts to bring the onboard flash closer. I basically built a square tube out of silver backed cardboard, that tunnels the light down the tube and directs it straight down onto the subject. Crude but it works well.

I'm stumped on that flower and I work in a nursery. :)

Hi RB,

At this stage, I have ordered 1 and deciding on a second. First one is a cheapo yongzhou 450 (ttl) of ebay from China (89.95) and I am still deciding on either an sb-600, sb-800 or sb-900.

The cheapo will be used as a pilot/slave.

Although the nikons are not cheap, It is still a good investment.

I borrowed my sisters sb-900 and immediately fell in love when doing portraits in the 18-70mm range.

You can't go wrong with the Nikon speedlites, I've heard very good reports about them.
